June MyGlam Bag 2012

Looks like I just got my last MyGlam bag in the mail! What's inside?

June MyGlam: Out All Night

The concept of this bag is cute being glittery and resembling a clutch, but the bag itself is pretty cheap. It's rough to the touch because of the glitter, which got all over my hands. It has a silver magnetic closure, but do you see how paper thin the material is? I wasn't particularly happy about storing it away because I'm afraid the glitter is going to get everywhere. But all in all, I appreciate the fact that this bag is different from others in the past. Now onto the contents!

philosophy Take a Deep Breath Oil-Free Energizing Oxygen Gel Cream Moisturizer
Living proof frizz nourishing styling cream
NYX Round Lipstick in Georgia
Marbella Permanent Eyeliner Pen

Can this name be any longer? This product works to revitalize your skin against harsh environmental factors that we encounter daily. It can be applied both in the morning and evening. It's a gel moisturizer with a light bluish-green tint with little scent (like Cetaphil SPF 15). It blends in quickly, leaving your skin feeling nice and cool. It's not sticky once absorbed either. I'm guessing this would be a lot like Dermalogica's Barrier Repair, a moisturizer that acts as a barrier to protect your skin from the sun while infusing your skin with other goodies. I think the .4 fl oz bottle is a decent size to test this product out. MUCH BETTER than all the other tiny samples from other MyGlam bags!

I've always been a fan of Living proof.'s products. I'm pretty excited to try this out! I'm not usually one to use styling creams because a lot of them can be pretty heavy and sticky on my hair. I've already applied it to my hair and it's actually not too bad. I already love the scent. I can't exactly describe it, but it's refreshing and feels like I'm at the beach! I applied it to my hair with my fingers and it didn't leave my hands feeling grimy. I usually only put Moroccan oil in my hair, so it will take me a while to get through this 2 fl oz bottle.

I was really excited to see the Marbella Permanent Eyeliner Pen in my bag. This was right up my alley because I am a major sucker for liquid liners. It comes in a semi-matte material with a click cap. I actually LOVE the felt tip because it's the exact type of firmness I prefer when lining my eyes. It has no give and does not bend even at the very tip.

However, I was extremely disappointed by the product itself. The product comes out with a lot of ease (nice and juicy), but the ink is nowhere near as black as I like my liners to be. I've actually been wearing it on my eyes for a few hours, and it's already smearing. I had to put on 4 coats to get a truly black, which isn't something I'd like to do on a daily basis. I also LIGHTLY wet my hand to see if the liner would last on my eye, but it completely smeared. Not so "permanent" as it claims to be. This German product also warns "Don't use with lenses." What does that mean??? Not for contact lens users?

This is a really pretty summery color, but I don't really rock pink shades. I can see this color being really flattering with a lot of looks, but it's just not me! Oh well~

I was actually REALLY surprised by this month's bag. It was pretty decent because all the products came in a decent size. No one-time-use samples or MyGlam brushes... not bad, not bad. Did I cancel my subscription too soon? Should I keep it? What do you guys think?

April Glam Bag: Girl's Night Out

This month's Glam Bag wasn't very exciting, but it wasn't terrible either. I admit I will probably find use for all of these products at one point, but I still wish there was more! I would think they would include a really fun eyeshadow shade to go with the brush or a really fun nail polish color to go with the GNO theme. Nothing about this really screams, "GNO." I have yet to be overwhelmed by any of these sample box services. BirchBox proved to be a major FAIL and Glam Bag isn't too far behind. I think I'll give this service just one more chance!

The contents: All-Belle Natural Soft Comfort faux lashes, Urban Decay 24/7 pencil in Ransom, My Glam brushes, & DermStore Lip Quench lip treatment

These look pretty fake in Andrea's Choice and Miss Jessica Harlow's videos featuring these products.

Small angled brush & all-over eyeshadow brush.
These are pretty essential brushes, but how many does one really need? I def don't need any more.

This is the only product I enjoyed this month. Although the texture is super hard (I have to squeeze with two hands to get the product out), it really moisturizes my lips without making them feel tacky. There's a slight shimmer, but nothing too obvious or glossy. My nose tells me it smells like grapefruit and papaya. I've been using it all week as a substitute for my other chapstick, and it's been doing a good job. Haven't noticed it drying out my lips over time or anything.

What'd you guys think of this month's bag? Do you recommend any other monthly services?

My Glam Bag for February 2012

After months of disappointing samples from Birchbox, I decided to unsubscribe and joined My Glam Bag instead. It's another one of those $10/month for 4-5 deluxe sized samples services. I decided to give this a try because their last month seemed promising with a full size bottle of a mask and full sized makeup products from the Balm. I anxiously awaited for this month's arrival, but it seemed like everyone was disappointed with their Glam bag. I finally got mine in the mail today and wasn't too impressed either.

Festive Valentine's bag. I could definitely use this.

The contents:
1) Ghiradelli Chocolate Squares - GONE before I even uploaded these photos!
2) Premier Dead Sea Cinderella Mask and Treatment Cream - What am I going to do with these one-time use samples? There was a coupon included for 50% off, but I don't think I'll be keeping it. If anyone is interested, just type in MYGLAM on your purchase at www.premierdeadsea.com.
3) Freeman Facial Hydration Mask in Goji Berry
4) NuMe $100 Gift Certificate - Probably won't use.
5) X Out Shine Control (full size) - An oil-free moisturizer that works to keep the skin free from shine. It's a really watery consistency that I can't imagine to be too moisturizing. (See photos below)
6) NYX Roll On Shimmer in RES11 Almond (full size) - A roll on product that takes me back to elementary school. It's a shimmering powder for the eyes, face, and body, but I don't know why I would put brown glitter on my face or body. It's pretty much like a pigment put into a tube and rolls out dry. Kinda messy. I would imagine a ton of fall out on under the eyes, so be careful! Maybe it could work with a stickier base like Too Faced Shadow Insurance Glitter Glue. (See photos below)

Roll on ball.

3 swatches of the Roll On in Almond on the left and X Out Shine Control on right. The shine control rubs out like water and is very wet. Probably will try this before and after moisturizer and see which way works best.

Roll On blended out. You can see there are a lot of gold glitter particles. The particles are kind of dry and scratchy. There's a nice glow in the sun, but it definitely needs a base underneath.

Overall, this bag is pretty weak. My chocolates are already gone, and the 3 one-time-use masks won't be around for much longer either. So... I'm just left with a shine control product and an eyeshadow I know I won't be using...
What do you guys think? Pretty disappointing, no? Any other Glam Bag subscribers out there?
I think I'll give it 2 more months...
